How Do You Get Your CEUS?
- Read the CE course material.
- Take the post test online.*
- Select method of secure payment.
- Print out certificate of completion.
- (80% = Passing: You may take the test repeatedly)
Using your own course work:
- Read a book or journal article, watch a video related to your scope of practice *.
- Use drop down screen to determine how many units it’s worth *.
- Fill out online verification form.
- Select method of secure payment.
- Once the verification form is approved you will be emailed your certificate and the charge will go through.

| MFT – SCOPE OF PRACTICE? | It is that service performed with individuals, couples, or groups wherein interpersonal relationships are examined for the purpose of achieving more adequate, satisfying, and productive marriage and family adjustments. This practice includes relationship and pre-marriage counseling. The applications of marriage, family, and child counseling principles and methods includes, but is not limited to, the use of applied psychotherapeutic techniques, to enable individuals to mature and grow within marriage and the family, and the provision of explanations and interpretations of the psychosexual and psychosocial aspects of relationships. | LCSW – SCOPE OF PRACTICE? | It is a service in which a special knowledge of social resources, human capabilities, and the part that unconscious motivation plays in determining behavior, is directed at helping people to achieve more adequate, satisfying, and productive social adjustments. The application of social work principles and methods includes, but is not restricted to, counseling and using applied psychotherapy of a non-medical nature with individuals, families, or groups; providing information and referral services; providing or arranging for the provision of social services; explaining or interpreting the psychosocial aspects in the situations of individuals, families, or groups; helping communities to organize, to provide, or to improve social or health services; or doing research related to social work. You can print your certificate once you read the course and pass the test.
When using your own material you can print it out once it’s been approved (within 48 hours) and emailed to you.
Other providers of CEUs often charge upward of $20 per unit. At TheCEUCenter.com you will pay only $5 per unit and save travel and hotel expenses.

How many CE Units am I allowed to get online?
All 36 required for licensure renewal. As of February 2003 California LCSW’s and MFTs are allowed to obtain all of the required CEUs online through interactive means. All CEUs provided at TheCEUCenter.com qualify under this requirement.
How many can I earn using my own material?
All 36 needed for licensure renewal, even the required course work.
How can I print out the test prior to reading the materials?
Go to the online courses page, choose a course, and click on ?View or take the test.? When the window opens click Print.
How do I take the test?
Click on view or take the test. The test page will be displayed and you can answer the questions by clicking the box next to the correct answer.
What happens if I do not pass the test?
Upon submitting the test your results will be displayed along with an X next to the question numbers you answered incorrectly. Click on take the test again. You may retake the test as often as you need for no additional charge.
What happens when I pass the test?
Upon submitting a passing test your certificate of completion will be displayed. Click on Print.
How many questions must I get right in order to pass the test?
You must answer 80% of the questions correctly to receive your certificate. If you do not pass, you may take the test again.
How do I fill out the form?
Click the “CA MFT/LCSW use your own material” button on the home page. You will then be directed to fill out an online form. You will be asked to determine the number of units received based on the length of your book, article or video. The page provides an easy-to0use drop down menu to help determine.
How do I pay to use my own material?
You will choose a secure payment form and pay per unit that was determined by the drop down menu listed above. You will then pay $5/unit. Ex: A 15 page journal article= 3 units= $15. You will be charged once your verification is approved.
How long does it take to get approved?
24-48 hours.
How do I print my certificate?
Your certificate will be emailed to you once the verification form has been approved.
